The Wine Shop

In this picture citizens of France are running to get wine spilled on the streets. I drew the picture so that it seemed like I was a citizen in the wine shop watching the scene unfold in the street. The people are so excited by this wine because they are very poor and is a treat for them to be able to drink it. “A shrill sound of laughter and of amused voices” (Dickens, 21). In this quote it illustrates how happy the people of France are to have this privilege. “...or even with his handkerchiefs from woman's heads, which were squeezed dry into infants mouths;” (Dickens, 21) The people of France are so poor that they gather their handkerchiefs and try to squeeze the wine into their children's mouth's so that they could get something into their system. “... and even joining hands and dancing, a dozen together” (Dickens, 21).  In this quote from the book it shows the happiness that people can get from little things, that is why in this picture I drew all the people smiling. I believe that this is not the last time that we are going to see this example of poverty. Charles dickens does a great job of creating a picture in our minds of how life was back in the time of the setting of A Tale Of Two Cities.
